UN Women’s Conference Ends in Disarray as Global Criticism of Feminism Mounts
March 31, 2025 – Feminists attending the recent United Nations women’s conference in New York City booed angrily when the United States and Argentina announced their decision to not support a statement containing vague “gender” terminology (1). In addition, repeated feminist attempts to promote abortion and transgender ideology in the Agreed Conclusions document were turned away.
The growing divisiveness of feminist activism was also evident at sessions held during the two-week UN conference. At one meeting on “Reclaim Families: A Feminist and Human Rights Based Approach to Family Policy,” panelists expounded on the Marxist view that the traditional nuclear family is an oppressive institution to women (2) – a claim that contradicts the findings of hundreds of research studies (3).
Over the past year, criticisms of feminist ideology have increased in their number and intensity. At the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Argentinian president Javier Milei was sharply critical of the feminist double-standard that is overturning the principle of equal treatment under the law (4).
“We have even gotten to the point of normalizing the fact that in many supposedly civilized countries, if you kill a woman, it is called ‘femicide.’ And this carries more serious punishment than if you kill a man, simply based on the sex of the victim, legally making a woman’s life be worth more than that of a man,” Milei observed.
Strong criticisms of feminism are being voiced in countries around the world, as well:
- Argentina: Victoria Villarruel, Vice President of Argentina, revealed how feminists are promoting the use of false allegations, thereby “breaking the principle of equality before the law, of innocence and defense; destroying the ties of thousands of families, and mainly many parents who can’t see their children.” (5)
- Australia: Chris Merritt with the Rule of Law Institute revealed widespread flaws in that country’s legal approach to sexual violence cases, such as not informing the jury of an accuser’s previous history of making false accusations (6).
- India: Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old engineer, committed suicide on December 9. The man left behind a 24-page suicide note detailing the alleged harassment by his estranged wife. His tragic death sparked widespread debate over the misuse of domestic violence laws in India (7).
- Spain: On March 4, the Congress of Deputies convened a meeting with the provocative title, “Grandmothers Silenced by Feminism.” The event was organized to publicize the problem of false allegations arising from the Spanish domestic violence law (8).
- United Kingdom: An exposé revealed how UK feminists have colluded with Labor Party politicians to oppose a national enquiry into the “Grooming Gangs” scandal (9).
- United States: Following the November 5 defeat of presidential candidate Kamala Harris, feminists embarked on a campaign promoting the use of Aqua Tofana, a poison that women used in the 17thcentury to poison their husbands (10).
Earlier this month, a 30-country survey revealed that a majority of men under the age of 60 years now agree with the statement that “We have gone so far in promoting women’s equality that we are discriminating against men.” Gen X men: 51%; Millennials: 56%; Gen Z: 57%. (11)
The tide of public opinion is turning against feminist ideology. Lawmakers should consider the elimination of support for feminist-driven agencies, policies, and programs.
