DAVIA: Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance

The highly publicized trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and the global public response to the trial, reveal there is no other topic of public debate in which the claims of gender activists:

This state of affairs has arisen from a gender ideology that ascribes domestic violence to the existence of “patriarchy.” Gloria Steinem, for example, once insisted that “Patriarchy requires violence, or the subliminal threat of violence, in order to maintain itself.”

Such wild claims not only deny science; they also have had the effect of minimizing assistance to abused men, creating sex-biased arrest policies, and encouraging false allegations. Such harmful stereotypes have had the broader effect of marginalizing men and fathers, thereby weakening the family structure.

The mission of the Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance — DAVIA — is to ensure that domestic violence and abuse policies are science-based, family-affirming, and sex-inclusive. Domestic violence consists of actions or threats of violence directed towards an intimate partner. Domestic abuse includes the use of coercive control, false allegations, and parental alienating behaviors.
