Feminism Has Betrayed Women in Four Ways

May 20, 2025 – Kubra Aykut had over a million followers on TikTok and more than 200,000 on Instagram. Aykut rose to fame in 2023 with her viral video of a “wedding without a groom,” where she married herself in an extravagant ceremony (1). With no husband or children to encumber her affluent lifestyle, Aykut appeared to be living the feminist dream.

But the dream soon turned into a nightmare as Aykut began to feel increasingly lonely. Then she started to lose weight. One day she revealed to her fans, “I’ve gathered my energy, but I can’t seem to gain weight. I lose a kilogram every day. I don’t know what to do; I urgently need to gain weight.”

Kubra Aykut then leaped off the fifth floor of her luxury Istanbul apartment to her untimely death. The woman was 26 years of age.

Aykut’s untimely demise reflects how feminism has betrayed women by weakening the institution of marriage, engendering mental illness, and harming women’s relationships to men:

Motherhood: Many women say that being a mother is their most fulfilling role. Despite that fact, feminists have repeatedly attacked the institution of marriage (2), insisting that child-bearing and child-rearing are an impediment to personal fulfilment. Men increasingly are hesitant to enter into married relationships, and global fertility rates are plummeting (3).
Mental Illness: Evie has reported the startling news that “young liberal women are statistically the unhappiest and most mentally ill demographic” (4). Sending these women for treatment by a feminist-leaning therapist is likely to only aggravate their condition (5).
Expectations for Men: In the past, feminists demanded that husbands express their sensitive side and help out around the house. But last year, a different set of expectations began to emerge. Now, many young women demand that prospective mates meet the 6-6-6 rule: Be at least 6 feet tall, earn a 6-figure income, and sport an abdominal 6-pack (6). Of course, few men are likely to meet such unrealistic standards.
Domestic Abuse: Research conclusively shows women are equally likely as men to engage in partner violence (7), and are more likely than fathers to engage in child abuse (8). But feminists deny both of these facts, thereby putting their family at risk. In one case, a mother was sentenced to 21 life terms in prison for sex crimes against her own children (9).

In her provocative book, The End of Women: How Smashing the Patriarchy Has Destroyed Us, Carrie Gress highlights how women were told that “abortion is consequence-free, that hookup culture and casual sex are normal,” thereby inflicting “Irreparable harm to legions of women.” (10) Virgil Walker likewise decries how feminism has distorted “womanhood into a self-serving ideology that undermines the very institutions that provide true strength, stability, and purpose to women.” (11)

Last year Argentinian president Javier Milei disbanded the country’s Ministry of Women (12). It’s time for lawmakers and government officials who care about women to take similar steps to end governmental support for the destructive feminist agenda.
