The Lifespan Gender Gap and the Rise of Matriarchy
June 22, 2026 – The World Health Assembly recently concluded its deliberations in Geneva, Switzerland (1). The annual event addressed a broad range of issues, with a particular focus on women’s health.
Notably absent was even a single agenda item about men’s health and the lifespan gender gap. Director-General Ghebreyesus’ Progress Report highlighted the need for “gender equality,” but made no mention of the fact that globally, men are dying five years sooner than women (2).
The lifespan gender gap – the difference in life expectancy between men and women – serves as a troubling reminder that in every country, men are dying sooner than women. This gap has dramatic effects on economic productivity (3), fatherless families, and grieving widows (4).
The lifespan gender gap varies dramatically from country to country. In Nigeria, for example, the gap is less than one year – 0.6 years to be exact. At the other end of the spectrum is Russia with a gender gap of 11.5 years (5).
The lifespan gender gap is not static. In Ireland, male life expectancy averaged 76.8 years in 2007. Then the government launched a public health campaign targeting men. By 2024, male life expectancy had increased to an impressive 80.4 years. (6)
The WHO’s neglect of men’s health cannot be blamed on public apathy:
- In the United States, the American Medical Association passed a resolution to establish offices of men’s health at the federal and state levels (7).
- Comprehensive men’s health plans have been developed for Australia, Brazil, England, Ireland, Malaysia, South Africa, and Europe (8).
- Last year, Cape Town University faculty member Morna Cornell wrote an impassioned article in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, arguing that prioritizing men’s health is “long overdue.” (9)
The World Health Organization once embraced the inspirational motto, “Health for All.” But with the rise of Matriarchy, that goal has fallen prey to an ideology that claims to uphold gender equality, but in fact seeks to marginalize men.
In 1982, feminist Sally Miller Gearhart proposed that “The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.” In 1999, Mary Daly argued that planetary survival would require “a drastic reduction of the population of males.”
Female hostility to improving male longevity continues to the present time. On Instagram, thousands of women recently “liked” a post about high suicide rates among men. Women posted bizarre comments such as “Rates not high enough” and “Please up the rates.” (10)
Mark Nightingale, who co-runs the UK group Integral Man, recently concluded,
“society cares rather less about the well-being of men and boys than it lets on….In the last 50 years feminism has pushed harder and harder on its message that women are the victims of male oppression, and with it has come the message that men are bad, cold, dangerous and not to be trusted.” (11)
If Patriarchy ever existed, it is now long gone. In its place, we are witnessing the rise of Matriarchy. And the World Health Organization has become an epicenter of this dystopian ideal.
