Rampant Sexism at the UN – Time for Nations to Withhold Member Dues?

May 11, 2026 – For years, groups have complained about widespread anti-male sexism at the United Nations. Now, a leading woman’s magazine has added its voice to the growing cacophony of discontent.

This past Wednesday Evie Magazine published a stunning critique of widespread sexism at the United Nations. Penned by commentator Lisa Britton, “The UN Is All About Equality, Except When It Comes to Men” reveals (1):

“Boys and men face unique challenges globally: higher suicide rates, lower life expectancy, homelessness, overdose, educational disparities, child soldiers, war crimes, and workplace deaths that overwhelmingly affect them. Yet, the UN’s focus remains lopsided…It’s as if their struggles are invisible, or worse, irrelevant and dismissed.”

Now, 50% of senior-level personnel are female and 60% of field staff are women. Despite that fact, when a position is being filled, “those hiring must indicate that women have received due consideration and, in the case that a man is preferred, explain why.”

The Evie Magazine revelations came on top of a recent series of stunning reports that document endemic anti-male bias at the UN in a broad range of areas: healthcare (2), education (3), the boy crisis (4), false allegations (5), male victims of violence (6), parenting (7), treatment by the criminal system (8), partner abuse (9), homelessness (10, and occupational mortality (11).

And this extreme bias at an organization with a founding Charter that affirms the necessity of respecting the “equal rights of men and women.” (12)

Much of the problem can be traced to an irrational belief in the existence of “patriarchy:”

Last year Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made the wild claim that “The poison of patriarchy is back — and it is back with a vengeance: slamming the brakes on action, tearing-up progress, and mutating into new and dangerous forms.” (13)
At the UN Summit of the Future, High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk launched into a Marxist-inspired rant about patriarchy: “The oppressive, outdated patriarchal system that has long sought to subjugate one half of humanity is at the heart of so many of the challenges that we continue to face.” (14)

In recent years, the United Nations has been criticized for a wide range of problems: hypocrisy at the Human Rights Council, power imbalances at the Security Council, double standards, ineffectiveness in preventing conflicts, corruption, and intrusions on national sovereignty (15).

But UN officials simply shrug off the concerns, not even bothering to offer a response.

It’s time for member-nations to withhold their UN member dues — until the bloated UN bureaucracy takes concrete steps to end the corruption, complacency, and lies.
