UN Women Must Withdraw Support for Destructive Transgender Agenda

November 17, 2025 – Kirsty Coventry, president of the International Olympic Committee, announced last week that she will propose a policy to ban transgender athletes from Olympic events. Sources say the ban is likely to take effect at the 2026 Olympic games, scheduled to take place in Italy in February (1).

The transgender movement can be traced back to the writings of Karl Marx, who envisioned a socialist utopia in which all markings of social class and gender hierarchy would be removed. To eliminate gender hierarchy, feminists espoused the transgender movement, based on the radical idea that medical and surgical procedures could be employed to remove evidence of being a biological male or female, with the objective of transitioning to another gender.

In the words of feminist Shulamith Firestone, the goal of the feminist revolution would be the elimination of “genital differences between human beings…The tyranny of the biological family would be broken.” (2)

Inexplicably, UN Women soon became a leading proponent of the transgender movement. Beginning in 2015, UN Women began to publish a series of reports that confirmed its support of the LGBTIQ+ agenda (3).

This timeline of key events reveals how support for the transgender movement grew and then rapidly declined over recent years:

  • March 17, 2022: Lia Thomas won the NCAA title in the women’s 500-yeard freestyle competition, putting transgenderism squarely in the public spotlight (4). Thomas had begun hormone replacement therapy three years previously to transition from male to female.
  • July 27, 2023: At a Congressional hearing, de-transitioner Chloe Cole condemned the gender transitioning of youth as “one of the biggest medical scandals in the history of the United States of America.” (5)
  • November 15, 2023: UN Women appointed biological male/transgender Munroe Bergdorf as its UK Champion, triggering sharp criticism from women’s rights organizations (6).
  • April 10, 2024: The UK Cass report concluded that there is “no good evidence on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress.” (7)
  • August 1, 2024: At the Paris Olympics, Italian boxer Angela Carini stopped the bout against transgender Imane Khelif after just 46 seconds, as a result of acute pain from Khelif’s opening punches (8).
  • December 13, 2024: Euro News reported that several European countries — United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, France, and others — had placed restrictions on the use of puberty blockers by persons under 18 years of age (9).
  • June 10, 2025: A Gallup poll reported that 69% of Americans believed transgender athletes should only be allowed to play on sports team that match their birth sex (10).
  • September 12, 2025: Diplomats from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Senegal, UAE, Qatar, Paraguay, Zimbabwe, Mauritania, Russia, and Egypt criticized UN Women for its promotion of gender ideology, charging the UN agency with trying to “eradicate the biological reality of sex.” (11)
  • October 10, 2025: A widely-cited survey found the percentage of American college students who identify as non-binary had dropped from 6.8% in 2023 to 3.6% in 2025. (12)

Public opinion polls, scientific evidence, and common experience all reveal the transgender movement lacks a biological basis and popular support. Transgenderism is antithetical and destructive to women’s rights. UN Women must abandon its irrational promotion of the transgender movement.
