Growing Consensus that Feminism Represents a Diabolical, Hateful Ideology

May 27, 2025 – A group of anti-Israel agitators stormed into the Columbia University library on May 13, chanting “Free Palestine” slogans and disrupting students studying for their final exams. Eighty persons were arrested for criminal trespass – 61 females and 19 males (1). Two weeks before, a similar confrontation unfolded at Barnard College as pro-Palestinian protestors occupied the college library. Eight women and one man were arrested that day for disorderly conduct (2).

The feminist protesters, members of Marxist-inspired groups such as GendeRevolution and South Asian Feminisms Alliance, were united by their belief that Israeli is advancing a Jewish plot for world domination. This view can be traced back to the 1930s, when Jews were portrayed as orchestrating a power-hungry scheme against Nazi Germany (3).

These virulent anti-Semitic beliefs parallel the feminist antipathy towards men, who are presumed to be upholders of what feminists refer to as the “patriarchy.” The fact that men are lagging behind women in 12 major areas (4) reveals the implausibility of this canard. But the phrase, “topple the patriarchy,” continues to be a potent rallying cry for feminist activism.

Feminists dislike men not only for what they do; feminists also deplore men simply because they are male. Gender activists are not subtle in how they express their disregard:

  • Julie Bindel issued an article in the UK Guardian titled, “Why I Hate Men.” (5)
  • French feminist Pauline Harmange published an essay at the New York Times, “I Hate Men.” (6)
  • Professor Suzanna Danuta Walters wrote an editorial in the Washington Post titled, “Why Can’t We Hate Men?” (7)

Anti-male antipathy is not confined to a handful of disenchanted activists. An internet search of hashtags such as #MenAreTrash identifies “hundreds of thousands to a few million engagements across all platforms,” according to Grok (8). In contrast, the #WomenAreTrash hashtag “doesn’t seem to have coalesced into a unified, measurable movement.”

Despite these facts, feminists continue to voice the implausible claim that anti-female sentiment, known as “misogyny,” is far more widespread than anti-male attitudes. In recent months, UK feminists have launched a campaign that insists misogyny is a “breeding ground for extremism” (9) – a spurious claim that lacks a scientific basis.

Feminist activists who are motivated by misandrist attitudes then construct harmful myths, such as the claim that domestic violence is only committed by men against women. Such claims give rise to biased laws that preclude services for abused men, and encourage women to make false allegations of domestic abuse (10).

But research paints a different picture, that domestic violence is an equal opportunity problem for members of both sexes (11).

Even the United Nations has succumbed to the wave of feminist misandry, with agencies such as the World Health Organization, World Food Program, and the UN Refugee Agency engaging in overt anti-male discrimination (12).

One recent analysis reached this startling conclusion: “One of the clearest long-term examples of using fear, blame, victimhood, and resentment as a social tactic is the way feminism — backed by unwavering support from the media and lawmakers — has worked to embed fear, distrust, and blame into the minds of women and girls.” (13)

Eventually, anti-male misandry redounds to the profound detriment of women. Surveys reveal a surge of mental illness among young feminists (14, 15). Pew Research reports that 56% of young liberal women have been told by a healthcare provider that they have a mental illness (16).

Such is the dubious legacy of modern-day feminism.

The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance – DAVIA — consists of 189 member organizations from 39 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. DAVIA seeks to ensure that domestic violence and abuse polices are science-based, family-affirming, and gender-inclusive. https://endtodv.org/davia/
