Does Feminism Represent an Enlightened Movement Toward Global Peace? New Report Says ‘No’

August 16, 2023 – Over the years, the United Nations Security Council has adopted 10 resolutions applauding the contributions of women to global peace and security, with all of them calling for greater participation of women in the peace process (1). But a recent analysis by commentator Janice Fiamengo provides a different picture, suggesting that feminist ideology serves to promote bullying, scapegoating, and mental illness (2).

Remarkably, the report relies on the admissions of feminists themselves to reach its surprising conclusions.

In her book, A Politically Incorrect Feminist, icon Phyllis Chesler revealed how the feminist magazine Chrysalis went out of operation due to infighting among writers who were “nasty, cruel, petty, insane.” (3)  At the National Organization of Women, former NOW president Karen DeCrow once decried, “Until you’ve seen a contested NOW election, you haven’t seen anything.” One NOW member dispatched a competitor for the California state presidency by reporting her to the police on a suspected murder charge.

More troubling are reports how feminists seek to resolve differences among themselves. Rather than relying on respectful and peaceful debate, feminists reflexively resort to ad hominem attacks to reproach the women who are seen as ideologically impure.

Leading feminist Andrea Dworkin, who was suspected to be in a heterosexual relationship, was once confronted by a group of lesbians. Dworkin recounted, “Hisses. Women shouting at me: ‘Slut, bisexual, she f*cks men.’ And before I had spoken, I had been trembling, more afraid to speak than I had ever been. And in a room of 200 sister lesbians, as angry as I have ever been, ‘Are you a bisexual?’ some woman screamed over the pandemonium, the hisses and shouts merging into a raging noise.”

Not surprisingly, mental health problems are rampant in the Sisterhood (4). A 2021 Pew survey reported that 56% of American liberal women ages 18-29 have been diagnosed with a mental health condition (5). Many of them resort to paranoid accusations and pathological lying, and some end up dealing with breakdowns, suicide attempts, and institutionalization, Phyllis Chesler further reveals.

Fiamengo attributes the “extravagant nastiness of feminist women” to the “victim ideology of feminism itself.” Can you imagine these women trying to conduct a delicate peace negotiation?

Given these facts, the UN Security Council should think twice before proposing yet another resolution on women, peace, and security.
