A/HRC/53/36 Report is Neo-Marxist Attack on Children and the Family

June 23, 2023 – The U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child provides in Article 9 that “Parties shall ensure that a child shall not be separated from his or her parents against their will,” unless a competent authority determines the separation “is necessary for the best interests of the child.” (1)

A recent video by a young woman reveals how these rights were repeatedly violated over a 20-year period, inflicting severe mental health problems on her (2).

“Dad was my best friend,” the woman recounts. But when she was 8 years old, her parents divorced.  “He just left us,” her mother falsely claimed. “The pain in my life over the last 20 years was, ‘My dad doesn’t love me…I must be so defective if my own parent can’t love what they’ve created.’”

Revealing the long-term effects of the parental estrangement, the 29-year-old woman recalls, “I’ve spent most of my childhood, adolescence, and teenage years grappling with self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, eating issues, difficulty managing relationships, trust issues.”

The woman ends her 13-minute video with this plaintive question: “Why did the United Nations put out this report denying my lived experiences?”

The “Custody, Violence Against Women and Violence against Children” report (3), currently being debated by the Human Rights Council, flatly denies the existence of parental alienation, which is known to be a severe form of child abuse (4).

The HRC document is consistent with socialist ideology. Marxist theorists view the nuclear family as an impediment to the rise of the socialist state because it is the means by which parents pass along property to their children (5). Therefore, the Communist Manifesto calls for, “The raising of children together in national institutions and at national expense.” (6)

Families are known to be the “bedrock of a fairer society.” (7) But Dr. David Noebel summarizes the Marxist perspective with this chilling prediction: “As the transition to communism becomes more complete, the family will increasingly fade from the picture.” (8)

Inexplicably, the A/HRC/53/36 report makes no mention of Article 9 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Indeed, it simply ignores the hundreds of research studies that document the dynamics, prevalence, and widespread legal recognition of parental alienation (9).

Unless the Human Rights Council refutes the A/HRC/53/36 report, “Millions of kids are going to endure the trauma and abuse that’s going to severely screw up and ruin their lives,” the woman sadly concludes.

The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance – DAVIA — consists of 93 member organizations from 32 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. DAVIA seeks to ensure that domestic violence and abuse polices are science-based, family-affirming, and gender-inclusive. https://endtodv.org/davia/
