Why Do Feminists Aggressively Oppose Domestic Violence Programs to Protect Men?

June 3, 2024 – Recent media reports illustrate the global problem of female-perpetrated domestic violence:

United States: On May 3, Angela Gosser went on a shooting rampage, killing her husband Larry and sister, before finally dying in a shootout with her brother. According to his obituary, Larry Gosser was an avid fisherman and hunter who most of all, loved spending time with his family and friends (1).

Australia: Last week a woman was charged with murder after a man was stabbed in a home near Sydney. The man died at the scene despite paramedic attempts to save him. The 31-year-old woman was denied bail to appear in Waverley Local Court (2).

Spain: Cristina Rivas was found guilty for the asphyxiation of her daughter, Yaiza. Before murdering her 4-year-old daughter, Rivas penned a letter to the girl’s father promising that “You will cry over the death of my daughter.” The jury rejected the defense claim that the woman was impaired by mental illness (3).

By any standard, the murder of one’s own child with the intention of spiting a former spouse must be considered an act of evil.

Hundreds of studies conducted around the world reveal that women are as likely as men to be perpetrators of partner abuse (4). Accordingly, numerous groups have been working to assure equal services to help male victims of domestic violence. But inexplicably, feminists have consistently opposed these efforts:

Australia: Feminists launched a smear campaign called “Counting Dead Women.” The effort features shaming exercises such as requiring young boys to stand in front of their female peers and apologize for all the rapes ever committed. YouTube commentator Daisy Cousens dubbed the hysterical campaign as “Australia’s Big Lie.” (5)

Italy: After billboards were launched in Naples highlighting the problem of domestic violence against men, 90 feminist organizations wrote an open letter to the Ministry for Equal Opportunity. The feminists insisted, without evidence, that “violence against men is not systemic, structural, and pervasive.” (6)

European Union: Last month the European Council approved Directive 2024/1385 that implements the male-discriminatory Istanbul Convention (7). EU feminists worked behind the scenes to assure the new law excluded all mention of domestic violence against men (8).

In theory, feminism is working to assure gender equality. But in practice, feminists go to great lengths to oppose gender equality for men. What are the reasons for the feminist betrayal of its core principles?
