2025: A Year of Challenge and Accomplishment for DAVIA
December 22, 2025 – The world is facing a tumultuous era as long-accepted beliefs are coming under pressure, and powerful political alliances being challenged. In the gender arena, feminist ideology increasingly is facing sharp criticism, both from men (1) and women (2).
The United Nations has long been a sanctuary for radical feminist activism. But last Wednesday, the UN General Assembly voted to remove feminist-backed language on “sexual orientation and gender ideology” from a resolution on disabilities, despite strong backing by General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock (3).
The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance – DAVIA — is working at the forefront of these gender controversies, seeking to assure that domestic abuse policies are science-based, family-friendly, and gender inclusive.
Unfortunately, many domestic abuse policies are based on Marxist ideology, not science. For example, feminist icon Gloria Steinem once made this claim: “Patriarchy requires violence, or the subliminal threat of violence, in order to maintain itself.” (4) Similarly, the United Nations issued a document that condemns “toxic masculinity” as a “key driver of violence against women and girls in all spheres of life.” (5)
But there is no such thing as “patriarchy.” Around the world, men are lagging behind women in 12 major areas, such as health status, educational attainment, homelessness, and more (6). If there really was such a thing as “patriarchy,” why have the all-powerful patriarchs allowed men to fall behind in so many areas?
In response to these challenges, DAVIA was established in 2021 as a non-governmental organization. DAVIA recorded numerous achievements in 2025:
- Increased its membership from 174 member organizations in 38 countries, to 225 organizations in 42 countries.
- Issued 56 press releases that were available in English and Spanish, and widely distributed to media outlets and lawmakers in 60 countries, to United Nations’ officials, and to other international organizations.
- Conducted dozens of media interviews.
- Supported the global observances of International Parental Alienation Day on April 25 and International Falsely Accused Day on September 7.
- Held monthly meetings for the DAVIA general membership, and organized meetings about advocacy and media strategies.
- Conducted a survey to ascertain the extent of false allegations in Argentina, Australia, United Kingdom, and the United States (7).
- Established a forum for DAVIA’s Spanish-speaking members to communicate on a regular basis.
Throughout, women have played a growing role in advancing DAVIA’s mission (8, 9).
In 2026, DAVIA will continue to champion domestic abuse policies that are science-based, family-friendly, and gender inclusive.
The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance – DAVIA — unites 225 member organizations from 42 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. DAVIA seeks to ensure that domestic violence and abuse policies are science-based, family-affirming, and gender-inclusive. https://endtodv.org/davia/
