Women Speak Out to Advance Gender Equality for Men
November 28, 2025 – Throughout November, persons around the world celebrated Men’s Equality Month, including International Men’s Day on November 19. (1) Events held during the month revealed how women are playing a growing role in speaking out and demanding gender equality for men:
Argentina: On November 22, the Women’s Argentinian Front, headed by Andrea Guacci, organized a rally in Buenos Aires protesting that country’s unfair domestic violence policies. Rally participants carried signs denouncing the problem of false allegations. (2)
Australia: On November 13, Bettina Arndt launched a campaign to pressure Telstra, a leading telephone company, to reverse its Orwellian policy that states, “We may terminate your service without notice if you are alleged to have committed domestic or family violence.” (2) Nine days later, Arndt announced, “Thanks to the lobbying efforts of all my supporters, we have had a win! Telstra has retreated from their recently announced policy of cutting off services from men whose partners allege they have been violent.” (3)
Bengal: The All Bengal Men’s Forum in eastern India, directed by Mra Nandini Bhattacharjee, organized a variety of events to celebrate International Men’s Day. (4)
Canada: On November 2, columnist Janice Fiamengo published a searing critique of university gender studies programs: “Anyone who still thinks that women’s studies started out with the moderate aim of introducing women’s history and perspectives into a primarily male educational environment will be quickly disabused of that notion by glancing at the intemperate, reductionist, anti-scientific, hate-filled agit-prop theories that made up the entirety of the curriculum.” (5)
England: International Falsely Accused Day, observed each year on September 9, is organized by Lyn Crabtree. On November 22, she posted this social media ode, “As November nears end; The hashtag dies; The silence begins again!; Don’t you dare go quiet; Our boys are still breaking; Our men are still dying; They don’t get a month off from pain; So we don’t get a day off from fighting; Men’s Equality isn’t seasonal; It’s every damn day; Speak louder tomorrow than you did today!” (6)
India: The Ekam Nyaay (“One Justice”) Foundation is directed by Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj. On November 16, she organized a conference about the problems with female-centered laws. One of the sessions, “Sisters United,” featured author Jyoti Tiwari, For Men India co-founder Antara Das, family welfare expert Indu Subhash, petitioner Mahan Richa Saini, and social activist Savita Arya. (7)
Nigeria: The Life After Abuse Foundation, directed by Halima Layeni, continued its work to provide comprehensive education, mentorship, and psychosocial support to boys and men who have experienced trauma and abuse. (8)
Spain: ANAVID, the National Association to Help Victims of Domestic Violence, is directed by Maria Legaz. On November 22, thousands of persons participated in a protest in Madrid demanding that the government expand its policies to include male victims. (9)
United States: Lisa Britton is a journalist who writes for Evie women’s magazine. On International Men’s Day, Evie published Britton’s tribute to men that said in part, “Thank you to the men who get up before dawn to keep the lights on, the roads paved, the shelves stocked, and the country defended. Thank you to the boyfriends and husbands who work so hard, the brothers who drop everything when we call crying, the fathers who would do anything for their families.” (10)
The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance extends its gratitude to all persons, female and male, who are working to assure fairness for all victims of domestic violence.
