Looming Failure of UN Gender Plan Reveals Feminist Flaws
July 21, 2025 – “I’m a single woman of 63, and I feel friendless and lonely,” lamented Kate in a recent tell-all interview. The never-married, childless woman had come to the realization that all of her friends had somehow drifted away (1).
Indeed, women around the world say their highest priorities are family and relationships (2). A recent survey in 30 European countries found that parents recorded higher levels of life satisfaction than their childless counterparts (3). And domestic violence is known to be rare in married, stable relationships (4).
Despite these facts, UN Women does a disservice to women by issuing dire – and misleading — warnings such as, “Marriage as both a legal and social institution has long been the subject of critique for its role in the oppression of women.” (5)
When UN Women developed its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Gender Equality in 2015, they ignored women’s aspirations for stronger family connections. Instead, the SDGs kowtowed to the feminist wish-list such as Goal 5.4, “Recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work,” and Goal 5.6, “Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.”
Last week the UN issued a progress report on its Sustainable Development Goals. The report had to admit to the likely failure of its ambitious Gender Equality goals (6):
- “Globally, women occupy less than a third of managerial positions….At this pace, achieving gender parity in management will take nearly 100 years.”
- “only 26 per cent of 121 countries and areas have comprehensive systems to track resource allocations for gender equality – unchanged since 2021”
- “2024’s super election did little for gender parity in politics”
“Three decades after the landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, gender equality remains elusive,” the report morosely concludes.
So how did the UN Gender Equality Goals become so removed from the hopes and dreams of the 4.1 billion women around the world?:
- Economic Benefits of Marriage: Globally, married women enjoy a higher economic status than single women, thanks to higher household incomes, shared resources, and greater wealth accumulation (7). But the SDGs have the effect of weakening women’s connection to their breadwinner husbands. Goal 5.a states, “Undertake reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and other forms of property.” (8)
- Marxist Definition of ‘Equality’: Most persons believe gender equality refers to “equal rights and opportunities.” But UN Women relies on a Marxist interpretation of “uniform outcomes.” For example, Goal 5.5 seeks to “Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life.” Translated into UN-speak, this means 50% of all political positions should be held by women.
- Gender Equality for Men: Men are lagging behind women in 12 areas such as health, education, homelessness, equal shared parenting, and more (9) Women care deeply about the welfare of men (10). But the UN’s “gender equality” agenda completely ignores the need to work for equal rights of men.
In releasing last week’s progress report, UN Secretary Antonio Guterres was forced to admit, “We are not where we need to be. Only 35 percent of SDG targets are on track or making moderate progress. Nearly half are moving too slowly. And 18 percent are going in reverse.” (11)
Ignoring the pleas of single women; weakening the bonds of marriage; promoting Marxist ideology; and shamefully neglecting the rights of men….an incisive indictment of the evils of feminism.
