Lawmakers Are Invited to Participate in International Parental Alienation Awareness Day, April 25

April 24, 2023 – One of the most severe forms of child abuse is parental alienation, in which one parent seeks to undermine and damage the child’s relationship with the other parent. The pervasiveness of parental alienation is revealed by nine decisions from the European Court of Human Rights:

  1. Aneva and others v. Bulgaria (1)
  2. Mincheva v. Bulgaria (2)
  3. Case of Pavlovi v. Bulgaria (3)
  4. Affaire Luzi c. Italie (4)
  5. Case of Manic v. Lithuania (5)
  6. Vyshnyakov v. Ukraine (6)
  7. Pisica v. Moldova (7)
  8. Strand Lobben v. Norway (8)
  9. Case of K.B. and Others (9)

In addition, the Czech Constitutional Court issued a decision in 2017 against the use parental alienating tactics (10).

April 25 is International Parental Alienation Awareness Day, and observances will be held across Europe. Below is a listing of the names of the sponsoring organizations and web links:

The effort to stop parental alienation has evolved into an international movement. Despite numerous court decisions, as well as laws in Brazil (11), Mexico (12), and India (13), some gender activists insist that parental alienation is “pseudoscience,” a claim that has been refuted by research (14).

The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance – DAVIA — consists of 83 member organizations from 32 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. DAVIA seeks to ensure that domestic violence and abuse polices are family-affirming, science-based, and sex-inclusive. https://endtodv.org/davia/
